The ECOSOC committee will have as its main goal improved financial and economic cooperation between states to remove or at least greatly limit potential barriers to the sustainable development of states. In order to achieve this, there will be three sub-topics, each of which is relevant to the main question. The first subtopic is the question of international cooperation on the regulation of oligopolies and monopolies. The second subtopic is the question of an international currency, or a system that can function as such. The final subtopic is an assessment of the values of tariffs, and whether or not they can be considered a threat to sustainable development and the wellbeing of the global population. These are the subtopics and the main topic of MUNCH XIX ECOSOC GA, which will be further elaborated on in the research papers that will be submitted at a later date. We are excited to host you all come February in beautiful Chapel Hill and we anticipate great debate and discussion.
